Mind Your Own Website

Three steps to making a website

1. Be your own business analyst

A business analyst's job is to figure out what information should go on your website. The way they do this is by having a look at other sites in a similar market. We will help you create a list of sites, in similar situations to what we believe fits your business, to help you form ideas for your own site. We will also provide you with a standard template of information that you will want to provide. After that, we will show you how you can enter your own information straight into the site using our content management software, and create your own pages, instead of paying a developer an hourly rate to do it for you.

"May not know much about art, but I know what I like!" - Monty Python's Flying Circus

A graphic designer picks the colour scheme and layout for a site, chooses artwork, and designs a logo. We will provide you with a set of colour schemes and standard layouts that you can mix and match to find your own look. An existing print logo, or if you have an artistic bent, a hand-drawn one, can be scanned into a digital image. If you don't have a logo, we can help you to create one. There are also many excellent-quality stock photos available for free on the Internet to enhance your site. If you feel at a loss with colour and layout, don't worry! We can provide as much help as you need.

3. Revisit your site regularly

A website won't update itself, and a website that isn't regularly updated doesn't inspire confidence in your customers. Perhaps an online journal, or news page, might help? We can help brainstorm ideas for ways you can keep your site fresh.

But where do you fit in?

Sounds like a lot of hard work? Well, unfortunately, a site created without much effort from you wouldn't be a very good one. Mind Your Own Website provides the structure and support you need to break the task down into manageable chunks that are easily accomplished. We will:
  • meet with you to clarify your business' website needs, and give direction if needed
  • arrange your domain name registration and hosting, and set up your email addresses
  • install content management software, and optionally, an e-commerce shopping cart
  • create your website's template from the colour scheme, layout and fonts you select
  • help prepare any pictures you have for use on your website
  • give you training in managing your content
  • up to three free support calls in case you run into a problem after the project is complete

No strings attached

At the end of a project with us, we want you to be able to own the website yourself. It is our goal that we will only hear from you again because you are so happy that you have a friend to refer to us, or need to expand your site's e-commerce offerings. There are no ongoing obligations or contracts to us. You own the copyright for the template and software code.
