Services

Mind Your Own Website offers professional services for creating websites, focusing on the micro- or small- business and organisation market.

Above all, our goal is to equip you to mind your own website - keeping the content up-to-date without any help from a paid consultant.

Choose from our range of options to suit your business needs.

Hands shaking in agreement1. Basic online starter

Get the online equivalent of a professional flyer or business card, with a basic site layout, up to 3 pages, with a no frills design based on your existing logo. Includes a contact form, pictures, registration on Google, and Google Maps integration to help your customers find you easily, Google Analytics setup to monitor site traffic and one training session to teach you to update your site.

2. Complete website starter

Choose your own layout and colour scheme (plenty of guidance supplied), and get a great website based on the design we create together. One meeting for design, and two training sessions, and up to three support calls to help establish your confidence in managing your own site. By the end of the project, you have a professional looking site that helps your customers to find out more about you, your products and your services, your site is appearing on Google, and you have learned how to keep your site up to date.

3. Mobile device site

Today more than ever before, consumers are using their mobile devices to access the internet to find products and services. Having a mobile website helps you provide the answers they seek.

4. Simple online credit card payment with PayPal

For the business where you have a small number of products to sell, or making one-off donations from your site, it's well worth considering using hosted payments with PayPal. These services are quick to set up to accept online credit card payments securely (Visa and Mastercard), requiring only an extra link on your product's page. Your customer clicks on a special link button which takes them to a payment page, they enter their information securely with PayPal, who then processes the payment, and returns the customer to your site. Regular contributions or subscriptions can also be set up this way. Your customer does not need to have a PayPal account to make payments.

5. Shopping cart with multiple payment options

If you need more options than Visa and Mastercard, or are looking for a more sophisticated online shop, you will need shopping cart software.

If you are a startup business considering setting up an online shop, please be aware that accepting credit card payments (aside from PayPal, which offers Visa and Mastercard transactions) can be relatively costly to setup. eWAY is one of the best value providers for credit card transactions, and at best the setup cost will be around $300 to 500 (unless you catch them having a membership drive!), with ongoing yearly costs of $350, not including transaction charges and the cost of an Internet merchant account with a major bank. This is why PayPal is popular with small businesses online. Another possibility is integrating directly with your bank, if you have a merchant account, and your bank offers an Internet Banking Gateway.

Shopping cart software often costs upwards $10/month for hosted software. It's very difficult for me to quote on a shopping cart project without meeting you face to face and finding out more about your requirements.

6. Ad hoc consulting

Do you have a specific website issue, or are you looking for a local, competent, reliable, friendly, and down to earth I.T. specialist with good communication skills? Do you have a website that is like an overgrown garden, and you want someone to sort it all out? Do you want clear estimates and timeframes, and a developer who will keep in touch about progress?

I can program in PHP, MySQL and Javascript, install MODs, backup websites, upgrade software, fix broken links.

I have a keen eye for spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and a passion for fixing up boring website content.
